Today was another day of discovering things that are broken, dirty or just plain worn out. I had realized that in order to remove the right side engine cover, I would need to remove the front cylinder exhaust pipe. Of course, there is nothing so easy as removing a single part. So, I started by removing the rear exhaust pipes so that I could get to the front pipe.

I started needing to remove this pipe...

After several minutes or removing all the clamps, it was onto the front cylinder pipe. Luckily the engine stud nuts weren't frozen. Of course, removing the pipe from between the engine and frame was frustrating. The heat shield kept getting in the way. Eventually though, it did slide out.

Then, since I was in the mood to remove stuff, I popped out the battery, chain guards and set everything aside to be cleaned later next week when things warm up here again. Besides, I need more cleaning supplies. My brushes and sponges are all falling apart at this point.

Not just the parts are dirty, everything they covered up needs to be cleaned now...

Anyhow, as usual, it's time to add all the parts that need replaced to KTM Twins and get more stuff on the way so that I can eventually ride this machine again. That list is long and distinguished and expensive (obviously).

I will need to clean and apply dielectric grease to all my connectors along with all the normal tune up stuff. That is becoming more than blatantly obvious as I go on. Also, it is obvious that the previous owner REALLY had a lot of fun on this bike.
