2007 990 Adventure Refresh

It seems the more I work on this project, the more it becomes about cleaning. The service will require access to the top, front and right side of the engine as a start. So there is a lot of stuff to remove and every time I remove a batch of parts, I discover more stuff to clean or repair or even replace. It's a vicious cycle. Remove stuff, clean stuff and then make a list of stuff. Today was no different. I started by completely removing the throttle bodies so I can clean them as well as replace the fuel injectors.

I started cleaning them, but quickly stopped after realizing that it would be a lot easier with actual throttle body cleaning spray. So, that got added to the list. Still, I managed to get one of the TB's pretty clean...

After that, I rolled the bike outside, along with all the accumulated removed parts, and gave everything a thorough scrub down. There was a ton of old dirt and oil built up on the airbox assembly, rear fender and the radiator fan shrouds along with the top of the engine. Of course, I had to spend time waterproofing the critical parts of the bike, intakes as well as the exhaust.

Afterwards, they looked a lot better, as did the top of the engine.

That was enough for one day. I am forcing myself to take my time, mostly because I don't want to screw anything up. I still have a bunch of stuff yet to come off and I am sure there will be plenty more to clean before this is finished.
